Our Purpose & Heritage

Create fall protection apparel for seniors, that seniors actually want to wear!

Founded by Joseph Shenton after seeing his grandmother suffer a painful fall. We merged medical-grade impact absorption with luxury American tailoring.

Nana Norma - The inspiration behind Parachute

Inspiration

Nana Norma

Fell while gardening & refused ugly medical devices

The Origin

Why Traditional Protection Failed My Nana

In 2018, my nana Norma suffered a terrible fall while gardening outside, fracturing both of her wrists. Even after this traumatic experience, she adamantly refused to wear any of the currently available protective devices.

They were bulky, humiliating, and medicalized. My nana is 80 years old, and she still takes immense pride in how she dresses. Why should safety require forfeiting dignity?

I realized the industry didn’t have a science problem. Existing gear could reduce fractures by 70%. It had an adoption problem. Only 2% of over 65s ever wore them. Parachute was created to eliminate the stigma once and for all.

Validated at Bark Tank 2025

At Georgetown University’s prestigious Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Bark Tank competition, Joseph Shenton pitched Parachute USA to a panel of top venture capitalists and industry leaders.

Parachute took home the Grand Prize of $20,000 to fund the physical prototype production and initiate our American manufacturing rollout in Arkansas.

The Investor Takeaway:

“Parachute bridges a massive $80 billion healthcare challenge with a direct-to-consumer fashion mindset that seniors will wear with real pride.”
