A Word from Parachute's Founder
My urge to find a solution to this problem came from seeing my nana Norma suffer a fall whilst gardening outside and fracturing both wrists. Even after this incident, she refused to purchase any of the currently available protective solutions. They were bulky, ugly, and stigmatizing. My nana is 80 and she still wants to look good and walk with pride, and so should she!
I founded Parachute to prove that protection doesn't have to come at the cost of dignity. We combined biomechanical impact engineering with timeless luxury outerwear tailoring so seniors can step outside with absolute confidence.

How does the padding actually work?
Protective padding is strategically integrated into the lining at the hips, wrists, head, and elbows. Built with Rubberlite-certified Vizion V4.0 SEV high-density polymer blend foam, it absorbs and disperses fracture-level kinetic energy across a wide surface area upon impact. This converts dangerous direct shock into gentle surface energy, shielding vulnerable bones without heavy or bulky medical devices.
Will anyone be able to tell I'm wearing protection?
No. That is the entire point of the coat. The padding is built into the construction rather than strapped over it, so to a passerby they just see a fashionable senior wearing a stylish coat. Nobody sees a medical device.
Can I wash it at home?
Yes. The coat is machine washable and the protective layers are designed to stay in place and keep performing through normal laundering. No removing pads, no special cleaning service, no trip to a specialist.
What size should I order if I wear a sweater underneath?
Order your usual coat size. The fit already allows for a sweater or light layer beneath it. If you are between sizes or unsure, refer to our detailed size guide or contact us through our inquiry form and our team will gladly assist.
Is it warm and weather-resistant enough for winter?
It is built as a genuine cold-weather coat first. Packed with genuine duck down thermal insulation and wrapped in a rugged, ripproof woven shell, it blocks cold wind and weather while keeping you comfortably insulated. The protection is an addition to a coat you would love anyway, not a compromise.
Where is it made?
In Mountain Home, Arkansas. We chose US manufacturing deliberately. When a product is meant to protect someone you love, you should be able to see exactly who made it and how.
What is covered by the guarantee?
Every Parachute coat carries a lifetime guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. If something fails in normal wear, we repair or replace it.
